Tips For Covering Up Your Tattoo With Makeup
Posted on: 28 September 2015
You might love your tattoos or be waiting to get enough money together to pay for the laser surgery needed to remove them. Regardless, you are going to need to find a way to cover up your tattoos and ensure that you look presentable for a job interview, work, or some other area of life that requires you to not have ink on your skin. Here are some tips for covering up your tattoo with makeup until a more permanent solution can be reached.
1. Get Rid of Any Excess Oil
You would never apply makeup to your face without first cleaning it because the dust could make the makeup look lumpy and the oil could make the makeup slide right off. In order to clean the skin above your tattoo, you are going to need to use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or alcohol wipes to wipe down the area that you are planning to cover.
2. Apply Primer
If you skip applying primer, there is a chance that your tattoo will shine through beneath the makeup. If you keep this step, you can provide an extra layer of protection between your tattoo and the outside world and ensure allow you to apply a lighter makeup layer. To apply primer, dip a brush or a q-tip into the primer. Then, apply the primer in a larger blob in the middle of the area that you want to cover. Using a small up and down motion, blot the blob of primer around in circles, covering more space with every circle. Keep adding more primer as necessary until your tattoo is entirely covered. The blotting motion helps you apply the primer more evenly.
3. Apply Concealer
Next, start applying a concealer that matches your body's skin tone. You need the primer to be entirely dry in order to do this. Pour some concealer in a bowl and use a small sponge to start the application process. In the same manner that you applied the primer, blot the concealer onto your skin. Make sure that you cannot see the outline of your tattoo, the most difficult part to cover.
4. Set the Concealer
Finally, take a loose powder that matches your skin tone and apply it to the concealer. This will set the concealer and allow you to go about your day without having to worry about the makeup rubbing off.
